Animation Characters and Narrative - Week 4

AND142 Animation Characters and Narrative

    Week 4

This post is of week 4 of the first-year animation course AND142 Animation Characters and Narrative. I am attending this course in order to aid my exploration, research and development for EXD300.

    Theme?

 Topic VS Theme

  • Topic - subject matter (exists more in writing).
  • Theme - an underlying message or idea that the author is trying to convey throughout the entire story.

In simpler terms, a topic is what the story is about, while a theme is what the story is trying to say about the topic.

 Developing a Theme

  1. Determine the main message you want to convey or the central idea you want to explore.
  2. Work on plot, character development, symbolism, and other cinematic elements.
  3. Always revise your work to ensure that the theme is clear and impactful.

    Logline?

What is a Logline?

  • A log line or logline is a brief (usually one-sentence) summary appearing in a festival/tv programme, describing shortly a film or a short film.
  • LOGLINE states the central conflict of the story, often providing both a synopsis of the story's plot, and an emotional "hook" to stimulate interest.
