Sketching and Drawing for Animation - Week 6
AND141 Sketching and Drawing for Animation
2nd Semester
Week 6
In the sixth class of the second semester Sketching and Drawing for Animation course AND141, we focused on using watercolor, ink, and / or colored pencil to first draw observationally, then freely while listening to specifically chosen music.
First, we started with a warm-up observational drawing of an aubergine. Then, we were asked to create a playlist of 3-4 songs we like to listen to while creating. All students wrote their names on pieces of paper to then draw out of a bowl. This way, everyone is randomly assigned a classmate's playlist.
exercise 1
Audio Space
Use watercolor, ink, and / or colored pencil to draw a safe space while listening to a random student's 3-song playlist.
The playlist I received consisted of:
- Plastic 100°C by Sampha,
- Plage Coquillage (First Kiss Song) by Tao Mon Amour, and
- 'Round Midnight by Wes Montgomery Trio.
The music sounded celestial and uplifting, so I painted a galaxy scape with complimentary hues of yellow/orange and blue/purple.
