Sketching and Drawing for Animation - Week 10

AND141 Sketching and Drawing for Animation

2nd Semester

    Week 10

In the tenth class of the second semester Sketching and Drawing for Animation course AND141, we returned to drawing the face with a live model.

    Notes

First, the model was asked to stand in the middle of the room and look around aimlessly until a student calls her name. Once her name is called, she will look in the student's direction and freeze for the class to observe and sketch.

My first drawing, made with color pencil on paper washed with a layer of watercolor.

Next, the students gathered around the model to observe her facial expressions. The students were asked to suggest emotions for her to model.

Made using watercolor, I painted the expressions the model was asked to make: Disgust, Admiration, and Pride.

Finally, the model was asked to pose with a few props for the students to observe and sketch. We were asked to draw a part of the body as an environment.

Drawing made with pencil, then colored with color pencil. I incorporated the lower half of the model's body with a peaceful field of flowers and grass. Vines grow on her legs and a small tree grows from where her torso should be.
